Day 14 Saturday 16th April 2011
As expected it was pelting down by the time we woke up. Not constant rain but showerbursts. The Weather Channel began showing the devastation of tornados and hailstorms with the comforting news that these were heading directly for us. Around 2.15pm the sky blackened, the wind picked up and then the rain just swept in. The car park was awash in minutes. After a half hour or so it all eased off and by 5pm we had a few breaks in the cloud.
We decided to brave the elements and make for the Mexican restaurant next door. The sky was black in the distance and by the time we had finished our starters the rain was lashing at the restaurant windows – just like going through a car wash. We ate slowly.
Eating slowly paid off because settling the bill an hour or so later we managed to step out into a clear sky – and that’s how it stayed, the storm had passed over. The Weather Channel was now relaying good news about the forecast for the next few days - sunny – hooray !
