Day 68 Wednesday 8th June 2011
This day is fairly easy to write up because, apart from the fact that we left on the Air China flight at 03.00 this morning we crossed the IDL (International Date Line) so pretty much most of Wednesday 8th June didn’t exist for us as we shot forward from being 8 hours behind in Vancouver to being to now being 13 hours ahead of UK time the only excitement on our 12 hour flight to Bejing being a lady who collapsed in a heap in the aisle. The stewardesses were totally useless at first aid and without any vital checks (the A B C) they just propped up the unconscious woman against the cabin wall in a sitting position on the floor. Fortunately, she started to come around but the next offering was a drink of water and permission for her to sleep on the floor. Time for them to go to class I think as my training told me that after checking airways, breathing and ensuring no injuries from her fall to the floor she should have been laid on the floor in the recovery position and when she came to her legs should have been raised to ensure that the blood went to where it was most needed – her brain. Anyway, it looks as if they do things differently in China !
