Vegas Day Two

Day 32  Wednesday 4th May 2011

We walked the other way up the strip this morning to make a visit to the pyramid shaped, Egyptian themed Luxor Hotel complete with a Sphinx at the entrance. Inside it was much of a muchness – slots, tables etc so we decided to beat a retreat but not before going to the casino ATM to take out some cash which was promptly refused not once but three times. We went across the street to a small shop which also had an ATM but my card didn’t work there either – bloody bank and their bloody security had blocked the card and after much messing around making expensive calls on my mobile the card was unblocked and ready to go – I really hate banks.

As Hooters didn’t have WiFi we found a nearby MacDonalds and I made a facetime call home to Gina and between us we managed to work out what the debit card problem was and Gina was tasked with giving the bank some verbals the next day so that I could avoid a repeat. On the way back to the hotel we called into MGM again and I took $60 of roulette chips and within 10 minutes I had cashed in $360 giving us a $300 win – more than enough to pay for the 2 day stay and fuel and accommodation for a couple more nights on the road.

We checked the maps and our route for tomorrow will be Death Valley so we went to bed at 8.30pm (yes 8.30pm) and set the alarm for early morning so that we could escape the clutches of Vegas in the cool of the day.
