Day 114 Sunday 24th July 2011
We took a good walk around the Omsk sights and concluded that Omsk is a nice tidy city and is well cared for. There were plenty of things to see and we spent the day walking slowly around the city in the heat of the daytime sun. Luckily the city was quiet as, being Sunday, the weekend revellers that had been part of the high spirited scene that had welcomed us to the Hotel Ibis the previous day had all cleared away and peace was upon us.
We saw three overland vehicles parked next to our bikes upon which it appears to be a travel group Bejing to Paris so I left my calling cards on each of the windscreens but we never heard from them.
Sadly the air conditioning in the room appeared to be centrally controlled and made little or no difference to the room temperature so we took several cold showers to keep cool – the vision of two sweaty men sat in their underpants each regularly going to the bathroom for a soaking isn’t a pretty thought.
We went back to the”Tradishinal” Irish Pub for some food later in the evening and it was just as good and tasty as the previous meal so top marks to the chef. Back at the hotel I battled with the hotel’s filtering on its server which kept denying me access to my emails and blog so I just posted words and no pictures – these can follow later.
We had a drink in the bar and studied the map and made the decision to leave early next day and make the 881 km journey to Chelyabinsk and so as not to arrive late and find no hotel I booked online so that we would have something and somewhere to aim for and an added bonus for us was that my Garmin sat nav was now able to pick up the address so getting there would be easy. Plan made we hit the sack to get some strength for the long day ahead.
