A Slow Day

Day 43  Saturday 14th May 2011

Nothing bad befell us yesterday on the unluckiest of days, Friday 13th, so we are eternally grateful to the gods for keeping us away from harms way.

There was not much to do today as the area around where we are staying is not particularly noted for much. We took a walk to the local mall in search of some interesting shops but found nothing more than a whole host of clothes/jewellery/fast food etc etc so we sat by the entrance and took up our favourite hobby for a couple of hours – people watching.

Mark had drawn some information from his computer that told him that just the other side of the Interstate there was a motorcycle shop so we ambled our way across the road bridge in search of it. We stumbled across a large Harley Davidson shop but knew that there was nothing for us in there so we carried on around the corner where we found Beaverton Motorcycles shop and what a find it was. All around the edge of the showroom on shelving above were old Honda , Kawasaki, Triumph, Royal Enfield etc etc bikes from the 1960’s & 1970’s – what a trip down memory lane. It was good trying to translate the American model name into the same bike that was sold in the UK under a different moniker.

Fed up with dining out every night on the way back we went to a food store and we bought enough provisions to eat in so tonight we had beef broth to start with bread and crackers followed by microwaved macaroni cheese. We did have an apple pie and a cherry pie for dessert but we bailed out stuffed to the gunnels so they can come with us on our trip north tomorrow and will make a tasty brunch.

Not much else to report as you would expect from a rest day so over and out.
